Over the next several years I will be embarking on a lifelong dream - a human powered journey across the Trans Canada Trail, spanning 24,000 kms in memory of my sister Lindsay, inspired by the work of my Canadian hero Terry Fox.
May 28, 2019 was the first leg of the journey, running 250 km from Mile 0 - Clover Point, Victoria to Duke Point, Naniamo. July 21, I paddled the Salish Sea, making it 120 km further along the trail. Landing on the mainland July 26, laced up the shoes and made some miles up to Whistler and into Vancouver for another 60 km. August 25, I returned once again to cycle the trail from Stanley Park, Vancouver to Princeton, spanning another 400 km through pathways, parks and peaks that were a great test for the body and mind!
As an athlete, teacher and international guide, I am ready for the Trans Canada Trail's peaks and valleys as I grow this community through nature. In an effort to give back to a community that deeply impacted my life, I will be fundraising for Cystic Fibrosis and as a fun project I am creating resources about Forest Aid: a database of medicinal and edible plants that grow along the trail.
On two feet, two wheels and a boat, the journey has begun across my homeland. Following through on a promise made many years ago to my sister Lindsay, who lost her battle to Cystic Fibrosis, I hope to create awareness of CF and help other families in similar situations. With a strong body and clear vision this idea has become my reality.
This year I've completed the first 900 km's! With the first strides and strokes accounted for, only 23,100 km remain!
If you would like to make a donation to my expedition your support would be greatly appreciated! Your donation will go directly towards Cystic Fibrosis research and enhance the quality of life for those in need. Click below to donate :
If you enjoy running, cycling or have a close connection to Cystic Fibrosis please reach out - I would love to hear your story. If I can demonstration the determination learned from Lindsay, the sky is the limit.
Follow along the journey by clicking the Facebook and Instagram icons below. I will be updating the route, sharing photos and videos about the experiences from a trails eye view. Next leg starting up September 2020, as I cycle from Princeton, BC to Inuvik.
Endless gratitude to friends and family near and far for your support. May this journey be a reminder of where your potential lies. Here's to making dreams a reality!
