Let the adventure begin!
Over the next several years I will be embarking on a lifelong dream - a human powered journey across the Trans Canada Trail, spanning 24,000 kms in memory of my sister Lindsay, inspired from the great work of my Canadian hero Terry Fox.
May 28, 2019 I ran the first leg, covering
250 km from Mile 0 - Clover Point, Victoria to Duke Point, Naniamo. July 21, I paddled the Salish Sea crossing, making it 120 km further along the trail. Landing on the mainland July 26, laced up the shoes and made some miles up to Whistler and into Vancouver for another 60 km. August 25, I returned once again to cycle the trail from Stanley Park, Vancouver to Princeton, spanning another 400 km through pathways, parks and peaks that were a great test for the body and mind!
As an athlete, teacher and active travel guide, I've broadened my horizons and am committed to this human powered expedition for a cause. As an effort to give back to a community that deeply impacted my life, I will be fundraising for Cystic Fibrosis and gathering resources of medicinal and edible plants that grow along the trail!
On two feet, two wheels and a few boats, the journey has begun across this country I fondly call home. Covering the distance to follow through with a promise made many years ago to my sister Lindsay, who lost her battle to Cystic Fibrosis, and hope to reunite with others and strengthen spirits along the way. With a strong body and clear vision this idea has become my reality. I have the education, skills and experience to go the distance!
2019 has been an exceptional start, completing the first 900 km's, leaving 23,100 km to pursue to in 2020.
If you would like to make a donation to my expedition by purchasing a kilometre your support would be greatly appreciated! All donations go directly towards Cystic Fibrosis research and enhance the quality of life for those in need. Click below to donate :
If you enjoy running, cycling or have a close connection to Cystic Fibrosis please reach out - I would love to hear your story. Its my hope to inspire others and demonstrate determination as I follow through on this special promise for a noble cause while exploring Canada's great outdoors!
Follow along the journey by clicking the Facebook and Instagram icons below. I will be updating the route, sharing photos and videos about the experiences from a trails eye view.
Endless gratitude to friends and family near and far for your support. May this journey be a reminder of where your potential lies. Here's to making dreams a reality!
What is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?
